2026 Filmmaking Project
The aim of this project is to educate, inspire, and bring together young people to make a collaborative and original short film over the course of a year that comments on themes that are important to everyone involved. The project will be peer-led, with young professionals that work in the industry delivering weekly workshops, progressing through pre-production, production, and post-production.
Our project will allow young people to collaborate on all aspects of film production, from writing to editing, through practical, hands-on workshops. The project aims to create a safe, constructive, and inclusive environment where the opportunity to work within a team builds skills and confidence using the art of filmmaking. Alongside technical and creative development, the project will build a community of young people who share common interests, encouraging new friendships and routes into work.

Project Timeline

Initial Development
An introductory period where everyone taking part will
develop ideas and themes for the film as a group. We would
use these initial months to outline what is coming up and help
people find their areas of interest for the project ahead.
Pre-Production

Now we take our initial ideas and themes and use them to write our script and plan for production. Over the course of these months, we will teach the script writing and visual planning skills needed for a short film. We will also begin training people in using equipment and performance over the course of these months, developing the skills of everyone involved to be ready for filming.

Production
Post-Production

Now we begin filming the short we’ve developed so far. We
will organise film shoots and everyone will have the chance
to work on a professionally structured film set. In between
shoots, we will continue training, practising, and developing
the skills of everyone involved through workshops. For
those who are more interested in post-production, we will
begin teaching editing during this time, so people are ready
to work on the final film at the end of production.
Here we will work on editing the film collaboratively. Young people will be able to use professional editing software and equipment to work on piecing the film together.
