Filmmaking Project 2024/25

WRAPPED!
Victim to a devastating raid, a village tucked away in the rural landscape of Scotland has honoured the loss and suffering of their ancestors through the annual 'Day of Silence' festival, in which the village stands in silence for 24 hours. However in the modern day, an event that’s brought people together for centuries, is starting to drive them apart...

What's happening now?
Since February 2024 we have been working on our 2024/25 film project - 'Piece of Mind'. We have expanded our contacts and opened the project to a much wider group of people. We are working with more young people from a range of backgrounds living across Scotland.
This year, we aim to create a short film that, while distinct from our first project, still explores topical and relevant themes, driven by the perspectives and leadership of the young people in our group.
We are nearing the end of production, and we are incredibly excited with how things are looking! Our film allows for even more in opportunities behind and in front of the camera.

The Concept
The core concept of the film is to portray different perspectives towards the Day of Silence through two parallel storylines that follow different families. During writing, we developed the family dynamics to explore the main themes, embedding them in the surrounding conflict to create a story that connects with the audience.
The story itself is centred around this town’s history and the traditions that arise in the wake of shared grief. The raid itself, known as “The Creach”, happened over two-hundred and fifty years ago, so the restrictive event has existed long enough to become deeply entrenched within the townspeople.
